I’m Jess and this is my personal blog about stuff such as babies who like to eat socks.
My Story
I used to be about as good, sweet and naive as is possible for a girl to be. I was raised very conservative but now I’m in the hyper-liberal, over-educated Northeast. (Don’t worry, I’m still pretty good and sweet.)
I married Eric in 2007 and started this blog shortly thereafter.
Our indomitable son Graham showed up in July, 2009. He often goes by Bug or some variation thereof, though he has several aliases such as The Nugget, the Fussmaster General, and Grammer the Hammer. Graham has always been a tough kid and he was finally diagnosed with PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified) in the Autism Spectrum in February, 2011.
We recently moved from Atlanta to the Boston area where Eric, the impressive MD-PhD, does impressive doctor-doctor things. I’ve been a lawyer and a teacher, but after a few months of unemployment I’m now working full-time in medical research. (Vague enough for you?)
We’re expecting Baby #2 (a little girl we plan to name Tessa) in February, 2012.
My Blogging Philosophy
I am still coming to grips with this whole special-needs-parent thing. I live on a budget. I suck at fashion, decor, beauty and all that fancy stuff. I don’t hold back much. I blog about my life and I focus on the underbelly a lot more than I worry about taking cool pictures. There are very few things I won’t talk about. (But I have a strict no-poop-discussion policy.)
Please comment, I’d love to get to know you better! But be aware comments are moderated. Please exercise the same good manners here that you would anywhere else.
I have a full-disclosure policy when it comes to ads and compensation. I prefer to work with brands that are in my real-life price range. So you’ll always know I’m behind what I say and who I say it about. I promise you to be totally honest in any and all reviews.
If you’re interested in advertising on the site or if you’re a brand looking for a partnership, please go to my PR page or hit the contact me button.
I do a book post on Fridays, which includes book reviews, giveaways, author Q&A’s, etc. I am active on Netgalley and Edelweiss. If there is a book you’re interested in passing along to me, please contact me via email or Twitter. You can see some of my book content on my Reading Page.
