I’m writing this before I’ve had my morning cup of coffee. I usually postpone it until after Graham’s been sent off on the bus so I can have a little bit of peace and quiet and just enjoy. These are my visions of coffee drinking: Sitting out on a scenic porch on a fall morning; Cuddling up with my sleepy family on a Saturday; A warm perfect sip with a chocolate dessert.
I wish all my coffee could come at quiet moments of perfection. But the truth is most days aren’t like that and yet coffee is there for me anyway.
Coffee goes with work in my head, too. I used to have to drive from Connecticut back home to Boston in the middle of the night. The only thing that was open: McDonald’s. That was when I started drinking their Newman’s Own Organics coffee. Because there are times when you need a cup in the dark of night when you have a long, dark road ahead of you.
I think of my last job where I was responsible for bringing in a Keurig machine and regular deliveries of Green Mountain Coffee for 2 floors in my building. The nice guy who brought our deliveries in every few weeks. The chit chat with people coming in for a pick-me-up in the afternoon. The relief of knowing it was there when I dashed out in the morning without anything at home.
And today I get to add another nice thought that goes with my new “work.” Today I get to give one of you a Keurig!
My old night-time drive-thru friends, McDonald’s, are celebrating National Coffee Day on 9/29 and invited me to take part. Like I would say no.
Here in the Northeast (specifically Eastern Mass, New Hampshire and Rhode Island) McDonald’s is celebrating National Coffee Day by giving away Small hot coffee for free from 9/23 to 9/29.
In addition, they’re having a livestream from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in Vermont with Nell Newman, the founder of Newman’s Own Organics.
(As a side note, I’ve decided I need to meet Nell Newman. I already met Amy Redford and this way I’ll have met the daughters of both Butch and Sundance.)
The livestream is Monday at 10 am and you can watch it here. Nell, the folks at Green Mountain and the folks at McDonald’s (along with some of my best blogger buddies) will have all the dish about National Coffee Day. And will feature a “virtual tasting” of the Newman’s Own Organics blend unique to New England McDonald’s locations.

I have longish commute. I love the feeling while I’m driving of holding the warm ceramic travel mug in one hand, listening to an audio book, while driving in to work. I try to just enjoy the coffee and the book and not worry about the work day until I get there.

Tim’s coffee is so strong that I have to mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with hot water to be able to drink it. I would LOVE to have something that I could just pop in and grab a cup without having to go through that extra step of boiling water to mix in. Ah coffee, and where to enjoy a cup – I’m thinking I could have a nice cup after everyone has left for the day, sitting in my quiet little home office, catching up on emails.
I’m also a big tea drinker, and boy would this be handy for that too! I have been known to put a kettle on the stove and forget to turn it on, or go back upstairs and forget the kettle is on until it starts screeching at me! Keurig upstairs in the actual office!
I’d actually be making hot chocolate for myself with the Keurig and I’d be enjoying it (and the peace and quiet) at my desk at home after I’ve gotten our children safely on the school bus.

Ahhhh. I didn’t make my usual latte this morning, but finished off half a diet Coke instead. Reading this makes me regret that decision immensely. Coffee is truly nectar of the gods.
I would love to enjoy a cup of Keurig coffee while observing my son’s ABA sessions on the video monitor. On a day like today when he’s been up since 5:30 and likely won’t nap, a nice cup of java would help keep me going. Maybe it’d even give me three energy to get some housework done
I love coffee and my husband doesn’t drink it so these are perfect! I’m like Alysia, would love to have a nice cup on the back patio on a quiet fall morning. Will most likely be drinking it from a commuter mug while chasing someone. But it still gets the job done!

I would be drinking my coffee on Saturday morning from a thermos as I watch my 10 year old son play soccer. I’m a brand new “soccer mom” as my son has just taken up this sport (basketball is thankfully played INDOORS over the winter) and last week I didn’t have time to make coffee and walk the 10 blocks to the field (NYC soccer moms don’t have mini-vans) to be on time for the 8 am game. (Yikes!) They play in Riverside Park, so the wind off the Hudson River makes it 10 degrees colder there! NEEDED COFFEE!

I have a Keurig at home (that I LOVE) so if I won I’d actually take this one to my office to share with my coworkers. We have to walk across our building to a cafeteria for coffee so this would be SO nice for my entire team.

My coffee dream is to drink my fresh cup of coffee, sitting on the steps off of Ocean City, NJ’s boardwalk early in the morning, off-season, in quiet solitude.
How do I normally drink my coffee? It’s either cold & stale b/c I got too busy after I brewed it, or chugged down before my son’s first therapist shows up, so I don’t end up drinking it cold & stale. And b/c my existing coffeemaker is dying (it gave me 10 good years, I can’t complain too much), I’m usually drinking bitter, cold, stale coffee.
But someday, when I retire, rich as heck by some miracle, I will have that dream coffee on the boardwalk, with a greyish sky, sun peaking through, over the ocean.
I would enjoy my coffee made in my new Keurig sitting in my den checking my email first thing in the morning.

I would drink my k-cups the same way I always drink my coffee, in my car on the way to work. But the hot chocolate would be great for the kids on those snowy days.
