She’s Here!!

Oh, I have SO MUCH to talk about. But I think I’m going to save all the epic posting for a little later when I can be slightly more coherent than I am now.

But it would be cruel of me to wait before giving an update. I’ve been posting lots and lots on Twitter because all I need is my phone, but now I finally have a little bit of laptop access so I can finally throw a bone to the rest of you.

Long story short, our baby is here! I went into labor at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning and our Valentine’s Baby came at 8:08 pm. Give a big welcome to Tessa Eir Severson. (Her middle name is pronounced “ire,” rhymes with “fire.” She’s a Norse goddess of healing and mercy.) She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and measured 19″. She has a pretty good head of dark hair and an adorable smushed face. We plan to keep her.

Labor was long but not in a bad way. Live-tweeting was the best, I highly recommend it. It was like having a little party where you get an epidural. I’ll give a full birth story down the road, complete with some of my tweets along the way. My recovery has been surprisingly easy given how rough a time I had with Graham. We go home tomorrow (Friday) morning and I feel pretty ready.

The Bug met his little sister earlier today. He checked her out… then went back to playing with his new truck. (Thanks again, Kathy! Brilliant work.) We think the transition will go okay.

Tessa is doing well so far. I think breastfeeding is going to work and I’m pretty pleased, if rather sore. She is getting less and less swollen, turning from a teeny old man into a nice little baby. I have some pics from my phone over the last couple days, not the best but they’ll do until we get back home and settled.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and all who kept up with my Tweets. I’m sure you’ll be hearing plenty more about our little valentine.
